Central for the last seven decades at the Macon County Fair have been the animals. Whereas many county and state fairs offer some sort of musical, neon-lit rides, the Macon County Fair has been an annually anticipated agricultural showplace for all sorts of livestock.

Last week at the fair, all ages, from 4-year-old Kamber showing her 4-month-old “Patches” (pictured below) to teenagers following in their farm-family’s footsteps to individuals long-experienced in animal husbandry, brought their best chickens, rabbits, goats, pigs, and cows.

The Macon County Fair is also a place to showcase beautiful flowers, painstakingly crafted quilts, school students’ artwork, baked goods, honey, produce, and so much more that people in this community cultivate and craft. Nonprofit groups and organizations presented exhibits providing visual information to the public.
