What do you think of when you think of Abraham? Do you think of God’s statement that he would make him father of many nations or do think of how he was going to sacrifice his one and only son Isaac. Maybe thinking of Abraham, you think of how God sacrificed his one and only son Jesus. They both have a lot in common. Isaac carried wood up the mountain for his sacrifice and Jesus carried wood, the cross, up for his sacrifice. A ram was caught in the thorns; Jesus had a crown of thorns placed on his head. A ram was the substitute for Isaac and a lamb (Jesus) was the substitute for us. Isaac’s sacrifice was to take place on Mount Moriah, which later became known as Mount Calvary.
Yes, Jesus died so that we could live. No matter if you believe it or not, life does not end when our bodies give out. Life is not the destination but the journey to our destination. Many of us will go to a place where there will be streets of gold, perfect peace, endless joy. Others will go to a place of endless pain. Why would you choose endless pain over endless joy. Maybe it’s time you tell Jesus that you want him as your Savior and that you believe in the virgin birth, you believe in the crucifixion, you believe in the resurrection, and you believe he is coming back. Live your life in the light and focus your thoughts on your real home – Heaven, your final destination.
