The Veterans Memorial of Macon County has undergone updates this year and is making plans to add another monument in the near future. Macon County Maintenance Department and LBJ Job Corps’s Paint Department received special recognition for their efforts in the beautification and/or upkeep of the memorial at an August 12 event.

Doreen Castle of American Legion Post 553 (Otto) spoke to attendees with Lyndon B. Johnson Job Corps’ Keith Bowers and students present (pictured above). Other entities noted for contributions included, Clark & CO Landscape Services, H&H Softwash, Highlander Roofing, Cullowhee Construction LLC, All About Paint LLC, and Terminix.
