Log in eye?

Letter to the Editor

Though I lack the ecclesiastical education of Dr. Mark Ford of First Baptist Church of Highlands or Father Jason Barrone of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church, who seem to have grave views about Fontana Regional Library System’s selection of reading material available to young people, I think it would be important to remind these Ministers of Grace of the profound wisdom found in Matthew 7:3: “Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?”

To place this lesson in context, I’d invite Rev. Dr. Ford and Father Barrone to visit Google.com or Bing.com and enter the search terms “Catholic Sex Abuse Cases in the United States,” and “Southern Baptist Church Sex Abuse Cases in the United States.” Take note of the numbers of cases and the billions of dollars paid out in settlements and, more importantly, the thousands of lives broken and the trust betrayed.

In fairness, seek out “Sexual Abuse Cases at Fontana Regional Library System.” Heck, cast your net even wider – search “Public Library Sexual Abuse Cases in the United States.”

The next time Fontana Regional Library System holds a public forum, I hope these men of Faith will report their findings.
