Highlands-Asheville South No Kings Rally

Letter to the Editor

The roughly 500 people who gathered June 14 for two hours at the Highlands post office were not all Highlanders. Where did they come from?

As we expected, this was not a patriotic event in the least. I saw two posters saying “F Trump.” One poster had a middle finger on it for Trump. One protester who I didn’t engage, yelled “F Trump” at me. I told him to go away, as Republicans don’t use such filthy language.

Left wingers and America haters across the country staged these protests against Trump. They claimed to be Patriots, but in Highlands two people held full-size American flags upside down on their flag poles. In 1776, George Washington warned in his farewell address: “Guard against the impostors of pretended patriotism.” This was the theme for the rally at the post office.

Some newspapers glorified Indivisible Highlands as a nonpartisan group. What a joke. There are no Republicans I know who would even consider stomaching this group.

The violent No Kings Rally in Los Angeles cost $2.1 billion. The money came from billionaire donors, American Federation of Teachers unions, and Indivisible. Protesters threw rocks, bricks, bottles, and commercial fireworks at the police!

Reporters interviewed protesters and many said that they didn’t know what they were protesting; they were only there to collect a paycheck of up to $400.00. Their manufactured message? “We Hate Trump.”

I hate to tell those misinformed, but elections matter. The Dems have no alternative or positive message. Just add in a bit of violence and it’s a fun day in L.A.

The Portland rally was also violent and one innocent bystander was killed in Salt Lake City. However, in D.C., protesters were not tolerated.

Contrast the U.S. Army’s 250th Birthday Parade, costing $45 million, which was a tiny fraction of the cost of the opposition rallies, but it was truly patriotic!

Compare the same day No Kings Rally with the three-hour rally in front of Appalachian Harvest. We had hundreds more cars pass by at our “Support the President” rally. Our pedestrian traffic at street crossings was more than quadruple what they had. We estimated that 85% of the traffic, cars, and pedestrians gave us the thumbs up and honked their horns, and hundreds thanked us profusely for standing up for America and our duly elected President, on Flag Day.

I can assure you that curiosity seekers made up most of the traffic at the Post Office. For sure most of the honking came from Patriots who disagreed with them.

We told the few No Kings stragglers who walked through town, two things: 1) “You are 249 years too late for kings as that one fizzled in 1776.” 2) “We don’t believe in kings here either, as there is only one King: Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and one day every knee will bow to Him. Want me to introduce you to Him?”
