Filing is open for municipal elections

The 2025 Macon Board of Elections recently announced that filing is open for seats for municipal elections, according to Deputy Director Judy Fritts. The election is Nov. 4, and candidates began filing on July 7.

Currently, candidates who have paid the filing fee and plan to run include – Vice Mayor Stacy Guffey for Town of Franklin Mayor; and Jeff Berry, Travis Higdon, Rita Salain, and Tim Cook have filed to run for Town Council.

Currently running for the Town of Highlands Board of Commissioners is Amy Patterson. So far no one has filed to run for Town of Highlands Mayor.

Only voters that have resided in the municipality of Franklin or Highlands for 30 days or more are eligible to vote in a Municipal Election. Upcoming dates involving the 2025 Municipal Elections are:

July 18 – 12 noon – Candidate filing ends
Oct. 3 – absentee by mail begins
Oct. 10 – voter registration deadline
Oct. 16 – early voting begins
Oct. 21 – 5 p.m. – last day to request absentee by mail
Nov. 1 – 3 p.m. – early voting ends
Nov. 3 – 5 p.m. – UOCAVA – last day to request a ballot
Nov. 4 – Election Day
