Grace Baptist Church is hosting Vacation Bible School, Saturday, June 21, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The theme is “Jesus is our anchor,” based on Hebrews 6:19. The church is located at 139 Setser Branch Road.

Live Saturday music offered by Friends of the Greenway (FROG) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 573 E. Main Street, Franklin. Upcoming on June 21, is Paul and Kay Garfinkel and Al Scortino.

Mountain Voices Community Chorus will present its annual summer concert on Thursday, June 26, 7 p.m., First United Methodist Church, 66 Harrison Avenue, Franklin. The chorus is a 45-voice mixed community chorus with members from Western North Carolina and Northeast Georgia. The concert is free (donations accepted). Free Lunch/Food Pantry Saturday, June 28, at Franklin Covenant Church, 265 Belleview Park Road, 11a.m. to 1 p.m.

Pickin’ on the Square will feature Tugalo Holler (bluegrass) on June 28. Sponsored by the Town of Franklin, Pickin’ happens every other Saturday through October and features local and regional musical talent as well as food and beverages for sale. Bring a chair. Non-perishable food donations needed for Burnsville-Spruce Pine area. Drop off location is at The American Legion Post 108, 614 West Main St., Franklin. Hours of Operation are noon-8 p.m. Mondays,Tuesdays, and Thursdays and the second and fourth Sundays. Monetary donations accepted and will be used for fresh meats and vegetables. The Franklin Bird Club leads walks on Wednesday mornings along the Little Tennessee Greenway. Walks begin at 8 a.m. at alternating locations. Upcoming walks are: June 25, Big Bear parking lot; July 2, Salali Lane.

Historic Rickman Store at 259 Cowee Creek Road is open, Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., through December. Music jams, local crafts, and unique antique items, and refreshments are offered.

Macon County Art Association’s Veterans Portrait Project is in its 12th year with spots for nine veterans. Macon veterans or their family members may apply at the Uptown Gallery through July 4th to have the veteran’s portrait painted by a gallery artist. There’s no cost to apply or for the portrait; the only requirement is that the veteran or a family member be present to receive the portrait on Nov. 8, the Saturday before Veterans Day. Franklin Al-anon “Live and Let Live” Family Group in-person meetings are Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. at St. Agnes Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 66 Church St. Parking is behind the church. Al-Anon is a fellowship of friends and family dealing with the impact of another’s drinking or substance abuse.
