Live Saturday music offered by Friends of the Greenway (FROG) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 573 E. Main Street, Franklin. May 24 is “Double-Header Fun Saturday,” with Sonia Brooks performing first, followed by C-Square (Lionel Caynon, keyboard/vocals; Mike Contino, percussion/vocals; Bobbie Contino, vocals).

Faith, Family, and Freedom Car Show Saturday, May 24, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Franklin Church of God, 701 W. Palmer Street, Franklin. Car show, BBQ dinner, vendors, and a silent auction. Proceeds go to women’s missions and a children’s home.

The Franklin Bird Club leads walks on Wednesday mornings along the Little Tennessee Greenway. Walks begin at 8 a.m. at alternating locations. The schedule and directions are listed at www.littletennessee.org/franklin-bird-club The public is welcome, all walks are weather dependent. Upcoming walks are: May 28 at Macon County library; June 4, meet at Big Bear; June 11,: meet at Salali Lane parking lot.

Pickin’ on the Square will feature Run Katie Run (rock, Americana, country) this Saturday, May 24, at 6 p.m. Sponsored by the Town of Franklin, Pickin’ happens every other Saturday through October and features local and regional musical talent as well as food and beverages for sale. Free Lunch/Food Pantry, Saturday, May 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Franklin Covenant Church, 265 Belleview Park Rd., Franklin.

Bartram 250, celebrating botanist and explorer William Bartram, runs June 1-7, with activities, hikes, lectures, an art exhibit, a watercolor class, trivia, and more. Yonder’s Summer Concert Series, Bring a lawn chair or blanket, a friend or a few, and enjoy the evening with us at Yonder under the oaks. All concerts are free with a suggested donation—we’ll pass the offering plate to support the artists and the cause. The store stays open for drinks, snacks, and provisions, and you’re welcome to bring a cooler. Kid-friendly, dog-friendly, and always worth showing up for.

Lazy Hiker Brewing Co.’s 10th anniversary is Saturday, June 14, with family friendly events all afternoon into the evening including a dunk tank, balloon animals, live music, karaoke, and axe throwing. Three food trucks will be on the premises.

Franklin Garden Club offers “The Importance of Bees,” Monday, June 2, during its 11 a.m. monthly meeting at Robert C. Carpenter Community Center, 1288 Georgia Road, Franklin. Visit Franklin NC Garden Club on Facebook to keep up with events and activities, and to learn how to get involved.

James Thompson’s Classic Country Sound bluegrass and gospel music the first and third Friday at 60 Firehouse Road behind the Otto Fire Department. Hosted by Otto Community Development Club.

Aglow International Franklin Lighthouse hosts a gathering the third Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. The meeting is held at 164 Iotla Church Rd.

Franklin Alcoholics Anonymous “Open Meetings” are for anyone who thinks they may have a drinking problem or for anyone interested in the A.A. recovery program. Franklin Al-Anon “Live and Let Live” Family Group in-person meetings are Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. at St. Agnes Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 66 Church St. Parking is behind the church. Al-Anon is a fellowship of friends and family dealing with the impact of another’s drinking or substance abuse.
