Live Saturday music offered by Friends of the Greenway (FROG) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 573 E. Main Street, Franklin. On May 10 will be Barry Roma, the king of the Franklin crooners; on May 17, singer/songwriter/guitarist Charlie Simmons performs his own songs.

National Police Week is May 11-17. The town of Franklin will honor Fallen Officers at a Memorial Service Friday, May 16, at noon at the Gazebo on the square in downtown Franklin.

FAST Summer Swim Team registration is Tuesday, May 13, 4 to 6 p.m., at the Community Building, 1288 Georgia Road, Franklin. For more information, visit www.swimfast828.com.

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser for St. Francis Catholic Church Food Pantry will be held on Friday, May 16, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Price includes spaghetti and meatballs (veggie option available), bread, salad, drinks, and dessert; $15 for adult and $8 for kids 12 and under. All proceeds benefit the food pantry. Address: 299 Maple St., Franklin.

The Franklin Bird Club leads walks on Wednesday mornings along the Little Tennessee Greenway. Walks begin at 8 a.m. at alternating locations. Upcoming walks are: May 14 at Big Bear; May 21 Salali Lane; May 28 at Macon County library.
 
Brasstown Ringers is joining with Mountain Voices Chorus, Pinnacle Brass and Sharp Memorial UMC Choir to provide two free concerts, “Joy in the Mountains,” at First United Methodist Church in Franklin on May 9 at 7 p.m. All donations will be given to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), an organization with boots on the ground serving the community in time of need.

Boots & Barrels: A Spirited Social sponsored by Special Liberty Project is set for May 22, 6 p.m., at its farm and retreat center in Franklin. The evening will feature a five-course wine tasting paired with foods from local restaurants, a live auction, and raffle prizes, all in support of military families. Tickets are limited. Pickin’ on the Square begins Saturday, May 10, at 6 p.m., featuring Arnold Hill (alternative rock, Americana); on May 24 is Run Katie Run (rock, Americana, country) This event, sponsored by the Town of Franklin, occurs every Saturday through October and features local and regional musical talent as well as food and beverages for sale. Free pet vaccination clinic Saturday, May 17, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sky Valley/Scaly Mountain Fire Department, 169 Haley Ridge Rd. Sponsored by Dr. Joanne Roesner and Stephanie Pierce. All dogs must be on a leash and cats in a carrier.

Non-perishable food donations needed for Burnsville-Spruce Pine area. Drop off location is at The American Legion Post 108, 614 West Main St.,Franklin. Hours of Operation are Noon-8 p.m. Mondays,Tuesdays, and Thursdays and the second and and fourth Sundays. Monetary donations accepted and will be used for fresh meats and vegetables. The Macon County Republican Women’s Club will meet  Tuesday, May 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the meeting room of Sakura Japanese Restaurant, 319 Carolina Mountain Dr. Dani Burrows, Investigator and retired Captain from Macon County Sheriff’s Office, will be guest speaker. James Thompson’s Classic Country Sound bluegrass and gospel music the first and third Friday at 60 Firehouse Road behind the Otto Fire Department. Hosted by Otto Community Development Club.

Trivia nights are the fourth Monday of each month, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Otto Community Center, 65 Firehouse Road, Otto; Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. at Lazy Hiker on Main Street in Franklin; every other Wednesday at 6:30 at Rathskeller Coffee Bar and Pub, in Franklin; and Mondays at 7 p.m. at Currahee Brewing Company.

Aglow International Franklin Lighthouse hosts a gathering the third Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. The meeting is held at 164 Iotla Church Rd.

Franklin Lions Club meets the second and fourth Monday,  6 p.m., Louisa Chapel Methodist, 470 Louisa Chapel Road, Franklin.

Franklin Alcoholics Anonymous “Open Meetings” are for anyone who thinks they may have a drinking problem or for anyone interested in the A.A. recovery program. Franklin Al-Anon “Live and Let Live” Family Group in-person meetings are Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. at St. Agnes Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 66 Church St. Parking is behind the church. Al-Anon is a fellowship of friends and family dealing with the impact of another’s drinking or substance abuse.
