Slaying the giant

Most people have heard the story of how David killed the giant Goliath. How the giant everyday would torment the Israel army and how all the soldiers were afraid to face this giant. David the youngest son of Jesse was not afraid to face this giant. David used a slingshot and one rock to defeat this giant. I guess you could say David took a rock to a sword fight.

You might be like the Israel army and have giants tormenting you every day. Your invisible giant could be anything like pornography, sexual immorality, alcoholism, drug use, anger issues, and the list goes on and on and on. Anything that keeps you from getting closer to God and becoming the person that God wants you to be could be considered a giant in your life. David had a rock, you have the Bible, Gods living word. David had a slingshot; you have your knees. It took David one rock to defeat his giant, but it may take you several times on your knees to defeat your giant – but your giant can be defeated. To kneel is to submit and Jesus submitted himself to man’s mockery, abuse, condemnation, judgement, crucifixion, and death.

Maybe it’s time for you to get down on your knees and humble yourself before God and ask for his help. May God give you the courage of Daniel in the lion’s den, the hope of Moses in the wilderness, and the heart of David so that you can defeat your giant with confidence.
