Discovering the value of life

At my stage of life, I view things differently than I did at a younger age. As a young man, life was
filled with new adventures, so much was to be learned and absorbed. I thought little of life’s
value, or fully understanding how fortunate I was of my own existence. Even in growing older,
my wife and I became blessed with our daughter, and I was taken by surprise of how such an
innocent new life could take hold and change my understanding of how dear and precious her
life could be.

My view of my own life grew less of me and expanded more outwardly towards my daughter and
others, than ever before. My view of life itself started on a journey of its value and importance.
I’m now troubled by how some view life with little purpose, direction or value. Life is viewed as
only a force of DNA, which we have no control over. We seem adrift within an endless universe
of nothingness. Life has no foundation in which it anchors.

So, it’s no wonder many live for what satisfies self, which dulls our senses to the question of why
we’re here, what’s our purpose, what’s our destiny, or does it dissolve into nothingness? If there
is no Divine (God), then life becomes less satisfying in its never-ending pursuit towards nothing.

As I grow older, and now having the greatest pleasure of witnessing my daughter and her
husband in bringing their own precious gift of life into the world, (my grandson) I’m more amazed
than ever of how complex the knitting of life becomes. Blood, muscle, veins, heart, and eyes all
weave together out of two cells joining. Living in a water-filled womb, then at birth, filling their
lungs with their first breath of life, where life’s journey begins.

Yet, some believe this life comes with little purpose or cause? I see and value this differently
than when I was younger. Life is more precious than I ever imagined. How humanity can
devalue life, except their own, is beyond understanding. If there is no Divine God, then they
cannot put a value even upon themselves. No matter how intelligent or powerful their lives can
be, it all leads to an endless nothingness.

My little grandson, nor any part of humanity is not of nothingness, for the Divine God places the
highest value upon us all. He shows just how valuable we are to Him, for he died for all our pain,
sufferings, and wrongs we have done to Him, ourselves, and to each other. Life finds its value
through the One who values life itself. Where else does any value of life come from? He gives
life meaning to the heart, mind, and soul, which all desire and seek. In Him, you find meaning,
purpose, and love. You are not of little value, for He values you with His life!
