The Macon County Board of Education holds a regular scheduled meeting on the fourth Monday of each month, beginning at 6 p.m., in the Board Room of the Macon County Schools Administrative Offices, located at 1202 Old Murphy Road, Franklin, or at a designated school. Joint Meeting
At a special meeting involving Town of Franklin, Town of Highlands, and the Macon County Board of Commissioners, at Old Edwards Inn in Highlands, each entity’s leader provided a report on top projects and concerns, including Hurricane Helene’s damage and recovery and connection of Highlands with the Bartram Trail, by Highlands Mayor Pat Taylor; the new Whitmire property playground and possible future uses for the former Angel Hospital property, by Franklin Mayor Jack Horton; and, the Franklin clock tower renovation project and Macon County school projects, by Macon County Board of Commissioners Chair Josh Young. Leaders agreed that additional discussions on resolving the county’s housing needs are needed.
