Macon County high school students who attended the Strength to Stand Conference in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., January 18-20, shared their personal experiences and how the event impacted their faith. From powerful messages to worship sets that ignited their spirits, each student walked away with a renewed passion for their relationship with God.
Grant Smith’s most impactful moment was when one of the speakers talked about how suffering and pain can be a gift from God. He said he realized how challenges shape us.
“It strengthened my faith by igniting a fire in my heart,” he said. “While there wasn’t a particular worship set that stood out to me, I really enjoyed how each artist sang familiar songs that everyone knew.”

One message that resonated with Grant was when the speaker compared stepping out of bounds in sports to sinning — just a small misstep can still disqualify you. “This analogy helped me understand the seriousness of sin, and I will try to remember this message whenever I feels like I might be straying from God’s path.”
Grant added that he would definitely recommend this trip to others, pointing out that it was not only a lot of fun but also an opportunity to learn and grow in faith.
For Noah Windle, the conference’s speakers impressed him most. “Each one shared thoughtful and meaningful messages that left a lasting impression,” he said. “My faith was strengthened by spending time with friends, while also growing closer to the Lord — iron sharpens iron.”
As a fan of rap music, he appreciated how Christian rap artist KB’s energy brought the crowd to life.
“I highly recommend the conference to anyone considering attending, since it was both spiritually fulfilling and incredibly fun,” said Noah.
William VanderWoude explained a surprising moment during the worship music – when the sound system went out during KB’s set. “Instead of getting frustrated, KB took the opportunity to preach,” said William. “His words were powerful because they weren’t rehearsed; they came straight from the heart.”
This experience challenged William’s faith by showing him that just going to church is not enough. He realized the importance of living in the Word daily by reading the Bible and praying more often.
“KB’s impromptu message made me reevaluate how much God truly means to me,” he shared. “I want to increase my time in God’s Word, create a group to discuss scripture, and pray more frequently. I hope these practices will strengthen his relationship with God.”
He added, “Strength to Stand was one of the most impactful conferences I have attended, and I already see a positive change in my life.”
On the last day of Strength to Stand, Micah Goldstein felt God telling him to put his worries into His hands. This moment strengthened his faith because he was surrounded by fellow believers who encouraged him to become a better Christian.
I plan to apply what I learned by not worrying so much and instead trusting God to help me through my problems. The experience was not only enjoyable but also deeply impactful in strengthening my relationship with God.”
Overall, the Strength to Stand Conference left a lasting influence, challenging students to deepen their faith and apply what they learned in their daily lives. Whether through worship, powerful messages, or fellowship with other believers, many students walked away with a renewed sense of purpose in their walk with Christ.
