Last November, we North Carolinians made our voices clear by electing Justice Allison Riggs to the Supreme Court. Her victory was confirmed not once, but twice, through recounts. Elections belong to voters – not candidates, not courts. No one has the right to overturn our decisions or retroactively pick their voters.
Despite this clear outcome, Judge Jefferson Griffin has spent nearly two months trying to overturn it, challenging more than 60,000 votes cast by North Carolinians, including active-duty military members. This effort undermines the trust that North Carolinians place in our elections and the principle that every vote counts. Attempts to discard legitimate votes undermine free and fair elections—the cornerstone of our democracy.
This case isn’t just about the North Carolina Supreme Court. It’s about whether our elections in North Carolina and across the country will reflect the will of the people. Justice Riggs won fairly and is committed to serving all North Carolinians without fear or favor. It’s time to respect the outcome of this election and the voters who decided it.
Our courts should uphold the integrity of our electoral process by respecting and enforcing the decisions made by the voters.
