Brews and Cues in Franklin will host a benefit Friday, Dec. 27, at 4 p.m. for Western North Carolina hurricane victims. Free movie offered by American Legion Post 108  twice a month. From educational material about the U.S., history, and the Constitution, to entertaining movies for the whole family. Live Saturday music offered by Friends of the Greenway from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 573 E. Main Street, Franklin. On Dec. 21 is Lady and The Tramps Dulcimer Group. FROG Quarters will be closed during the holidays and reopen Jan. 8, 2025.

The Annual Ruby Drop, sponsored by Crabtree Family Enterprise, is happening New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, at 9 p.m. for early birds and at midnight. Live music with the V8s and Blue Mountain Movement, food and beverages, carriage rides, and a tiny camper photo booth are part of the celebration. Downtown Franklin.

Bingo at American Legion Auxiliary Post 108 every Wednesday from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at 614 West Main Street, Franklin; a snack bar is available.

A free weaving program for veterans at the Cowee School Arts & Heritage Center is offered twice monthly by Teresa Bouchonnet, whose father wove for years for stress relief and enjoyment. Franklin Alcoholics Anonymous “Open Meetings” are for anyone who thinks they may have a drinking problem or for anyone interested in the A.A. recovery program. CHRISTMAS CALENDAR

A Celtic Christmas Ceili, Thursday, Dec. 19, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Otto Community Center. A ceili, (kay-leigh) is a gathering with music, stories, and dance in the tradition of old Scotland and Ireland. Admission is by donation. Kanopy Christmas Movie Marathon is at the Macon County Public Library Friday, Dec. 20, from 10:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. in the Meeting Room. Drop in throughout the day to watch some or all of a few Christmas movies and performances. Bring some snacks and your favorite (nonalcoholic) beverage to enjoy during the movies. The library is located at 149 Siler Farm Road, Franklin.
