Cartoogechaye Baptist Church is offering a Bethlehem experience with a live Nativity for the Christmas season.

“Our church has been doing a live nativity for close to 15 years,” said one of the deacons, Tim Brackett. “For the last eight years, we have been doing it every other year just because of the amount of work and effort it takes to do this ministry, and the entire church enjoys doing this for our community, our county, and surrounding areas.

EVERY OTHER year for the last 15 years, members of Cartoogechaye Baptist Church have recreated the town of Bethlehem with a live nativity and animals to mark the birth of Jesus. The church is located at 465 W. Old Murphy Road, Franklin.

“We started with a live manger scene the first year and it has evolved over the years from a live Nativity to a Bethlehem experience with a live Nativity. Our goal is to share that there is hope and peace found in the saving grace of the One that was born in a lowly manger.”

Something new this year besides the usual drive-thru event December 6-8, from 6-8:30 p.m., is a walk-thru Bethlehem the second weekend, December 13-14, from 6-8:30 p.m. For the walk-thru second weekend of the event, attendees will need to park at Parker Meadows Sports Complex, and Cartoogechaye Baptist Church will provide shuttles to and from the church.

“This way the public can have an up-close experience with the live Nativity,” said Brackett.

This is a free event.
