Recently the Mission Committee of the Presbytery of Western North Carolina awarded a $20,000 Affordable Housing Grant to Macon/Jackson Habitat for Humanity.

The mission of Habitat is “to work in partnership with God and His people everywhere, in all walks of life to provide housing for His people who are in need.”

The grant will help support building a home in Jackson County this year. Congregation partners are First Presbyterian Church, Franklin, and First Presbyterian Church, Sylva. Nancy Browder, Lael Wilson, and Gail Lehman of First Presbyterian Church in Franklin presented the check to Rick Westerman, director of Macon/Jackson Habitat, Pat Cabe, grant writer and Laurel Klonkowski, president of the local Habitat office.
