The Franklin High School Panthers finished their 2023-2024 regular season Friday evening, Feb. 9, at home in the Panther Den.

The varsity girls finished with a 13-10 (9-3) record and a victory over the West Henderson Lady Falcons, 61-51. The Lady Panthers ended up third in the Mountain Seven Conference (M7C).

On the boys’ side, the Knights won Feb. 9, 61-51 to put the Panthers at 15-8 (7-5) and at fourth place in the M7C.  Junior Max McClure recently set the all-time single game scoring record in a game against Smoky Mountain, with 47 points. McClure finished the season leading Head Coach Doug Plemmons’ squad in points per game (22.5), rebounds (8.6 per game), and assists, with just over 2 per game.

ALL EYES were on #3, Junior Max McClure, recently as he neared 1,000 points scored. McClure was a force last week during a game against the Smoky Mountain Mustangs. Due to achieving a Franklin High School record for most points scored in a single game (against Smoky Mountain Mustangs, Feb. 7) McClure was given an award by Coach Doug Plemmons and Athletic Director Matt Bradley. He also ended the regular season just shy of 1,000 points for his career with 994. He is expected to exceed the 1,000- point feat at some point during the post season tournaments and may also break the all-time school scoring record before he graduates.
