Local Toys for Tots coordinator Jack Brennan said 278 families have requested toys for children and, as of mid-December, 168 families received toys and other items for their children with plans to get packages to the remaining 110 families by Christmas.

“We have 10 active volunteers who have assisted …,” said Brennan. “Notable is [Franklin Fire Chief] Ben Ormond. He and his volunteer firemen have assisted in the delivery of packages to families who could not make their designated times.” Brennan explained that firefighters contributed $750 in toys, and that The Lazy Hiker has collected more than $600 in donations from their open mic night on Thursdays, “which has helped out tremendously,” said Brennan.

828Vets have been regular helpers as well.
