“Listening to the Land: Reimagining the Bartram Trail” Exhibit
The Bascom: A Center for the Visual Arts, Highlands
A visual exploration of the Blue Ridge Bartram Trail, drawing inspiration from the classic Bartram’s Travels, featuring photography and photo-based installations by 32 artists.

FROG Fair
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at The Friends of the Greenway (FROG) Headquarters on Main Street
A fall fund-raising arts and crafts event with 44 vendors, food, music; musicians include Melody Lowery and Melinda Pennington, Ansley McAllister, Lady and the Tramps mountain dulcimer trio (pictured above), Sheila Krause, George James, Jim Austin, Ron Darby, Gary Gibson, and Tom Nelson.

Haunted House
7-9 p.m. – Lyndon B. Johnson JobCorps Gymnasium
6th grade ages and older are welcome to attend this fundraiser for JobCorps; cost is $5.

Halloween Celebration
11 a.m.-2 p.m. – Rose Creek Mine
Costume contest, geode cracking, rock painting, seasonal beverages, and more.

Author Book Fair
10 a.m.-2 p.m. – Franklin Chamber of Commerce Welcome Center
Meet quality local authors of both fiction and nonfiction works with books available for purchase and signing.

NOVEMBER 9
Nantahala Hiking Club’s Local Culture Presentation
6 p.m. – Macon County Public Library in Franklin
Nantahala Hiking Club hosts Foxfire Museum of Appalachian Culture’s program focusing on Lucy Morgan (1889-1991), brother of A. Rufus Morgan, Sr., who founded Nantahala Hiking Club. Lucy founded Penland School of Craft.
