According to Cindy Cavender, director of marketing and special projects at the Franklin Chamber of Commerce, a record number of businesses – some new and some existing – have become Chamber members of late.

“As of October 16, we have 44 new members,” she said. “We will certainly surpass last year’s total of new members (44). The majority of this year’s new members are new businesses or businesses with new owners. We contribute this to the growth of Macon County in the past couple of years.”

Included in the new-member lineup is this newspaper, Macon Sense; the newspaper staff and the newspaper publishers, Kavod Family, as well as sundry family members, friends, and local leadership representatives, gathered on the staircase at the Chamber’s offices for a ribbon cutting Oct. 16.

Additionally, other recent new members include: Roomful of Nuts, a health food and supplement retail store on Hwy. 441/Georgia Road. Scott and Kelly Greene are the new owners of Roomful of Nuts, which was established in 2006. Co-owner Scott Greene, no stranger to retail – as he grew up working in his family’s retail business – said: “After leaving retail and spending 20 years in hospitality management, this opportunity felt like coming full circle.”

Also, Mason Peak Mountain Properties recently celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Franklin Chamber of Commerce.

Jessica Mason and Michael Peak launched Mason Peak Mountain Properties to serve clients in the Western North Carolina region. The office is located on Maple Street. Team members at Mason Peak include Helen Gentry, Holly Gains, and Adam Tallent, who bring a combined 15-plus years of real estate expertise to clients.
